Famous for 15 Years: The Wallpaper* 150

September marks not only our 150th issue, but also 15 years of Wallpaper*. To help us celebrate, we're taking a trip back over our prestigious past to collate the W*150: a list of the 150 people who have most influenced, inspired and improved the way we live, work and travel over the last 15 years.

The debates of who's in, and who's out, are well under way here at W* HQ, where we have set a few rules: the people have to be alive, and their era-defining moment has to have been within the last 15 years, not before. However, this is too enthralling a contest to keep to ourselves. Over the coming weeks we'll be previewing who's made our list, and as well as your comments, we'd love to hear the people you think most deserve a place in our line-up. The final W*150 will be revealed in the magazine's print and iPad editions on 11th August, but until then, we're all ears - just remember to include the tag #W150 in your tweets.

Wallpaper* wins publishing accolade for Handmade issue
Wallpaper*, the leading authority on international design, fashion and lifestyle, won the coveted 'Innovation/Brand Building Initiative of the Year award' for its August Handmade issue at the prestigious British Society of Magazine Editors Awards

Seeing off all the competition, Wallpaper's editor-in-chief Tony Chambers collected the award in recognition of the title's most ambitious issue to date.

Working with leading designers, manufacturers and craftsmen, over 100 unique products were created for the Handmade issue and shown at an acclaimed exhibition at the Brioni HQ during Salone del Mobile in Milan, the world's major design fair. The August issue is a truly collectable, handmade product in its own right. It was produced on seven different paper stocks and, through the wonders of state-of-the-art digital printing (and military-precision planning), an application was set up that allowed anyone to design, and receive, their very own, handmade, cover. Some 21,000 unique covers were printed and delivered to subscribers!

"At Wallpaper* we always aim to exceed expectations and Handmade certainly did that. We are delighted that this epic project has been recognised with this award. Planning is already afoot for next year's anticipated sequel, Handmade II." Tony Chambers, editor-in-chief, Wallpaper*

Wallpaper* Director's Cut iPad App
For our first foray into iPad apps, we bring you the Directors' Cut - a one-off video application, in association with Tudor, featuring exclusive content from two titans of stage and screen.

David Lynch
Chain-smoking, quiff-sporting, coffee-making, transcendental meditating Hollywood maverick David Lynch is one of the genuine legends of 20th century cinema. Over the last decade his work has grown even more personal and effecting. And he’s had a very big effect on us. For the Directors' Cut, Lynch has created a brand new and exclusive short film staring his most iconic creation.

Robert Wilson
Robert Wilson is a theatre director, designer, writer, choreographer, performer and one-man creative hub who has drawn William Burroughs, Lou Reed, Tom Waits and Brad Pitt, to name but the barest few, close to his flame. Here he presents a selection of his strange but beautiful film portraits of Pitt, Willem Dafoe, Dita von Teese, Wallpaper* cover star Isabella Rossellini and more, while offering us his thoughts on these 'documents of our time'.

Wallpaper* wins top design and journalism awards
Wallpaper* is regarded as the highest authority on design and style, and continually redefines magazine art direction. In recognition of this, the judges at the 25th anniversary of the prestigious British Society of Magazine Editors Awards selected Wallpaper* Editor-in-Chief Tony Chambers to win the coveted prize of the New Editor of the Year.
In a story published in The Guardian, in which panel members of the BSME selected the best covers of the year, Men’s Health Editor Morgan Rees describes Wallpaper’s May 2008 cover as 'one of the finest things that I have seen in a very long time'. He goes on to say, 'In the age of Photoshop, it is rare to see something that genuinely stops you in your tracks.'
This award follows a hat-trick of prizes picked up by Wallpaper* at this year’s Press Gazette Magazine Design and Journalism Awards. In fact, Wallpaper* scooped more awards than any other magazine, including the prize for Best Designed Consumer Magazine of the Year (with more than 40,000 circulation). It shook off competition from publications, such as Grazia, Harper’s Bazaar and The Sunday Times Magazine, and went on to win the overall award for Best Designed Magazine of the Year. The award for Young Designer of the Year went to Wallpaper’s Dominic Bell. The judges said, 'Wallpaper* continues to innovate. A perfect response to its subject matter. Page after page of just stunning design. The most restrained, considered magazine in this category. A triumph.'
